First 50+ mile and longest cycle of the year

This month is off to a flying start. Just done my first 50+ mile cycle of the year, which also happens to make it the longest one to.

The section of the route that is marked in blue, is roads I have never cycled on before.

  1. Nice one G!!! Was such a lovely day for cycling, so I managed to get out too! Again, I managed to cover lots of new roads and even broke a couple of my own records…

    A great start to the month for both of us!

    1. 50 miles may sound good, but BlondGuppy ended up doing 70 miles today. So does not make my 50 sound so good after all :(.

        As for stopping… try not to for the initial 25 miles, unless I have to stop at junctions and suchlike. I just know when I need to stop for a rest.

        Stats for my ride are:
        72.92 miles, 05h54m47s ride time, average speed, 12.3mph, max speed 43mph, elevation gain 819m, fastest 5 mile ‘lap’ 18m45s, and 4491 calories.

        Well happy with that. I have a feeling Gordon will be able to get one back on me soon! 😉

          1. Like G says… I only really stop if I need to. I know when to have a rest. I have a ‘camelbak’ water carrier on my back, which holds three litres of water, or orange squash, plus I take some choccy bars or oat bars with me for the energy to keep me going. If I really do feel the need, I’ll stop at a shop and have something else!

            I had a 20 minute rest today at about 33 miles, and another 30 minute rest at about 60 miles. But sometimes I can go until 40 miles without feeling the need to stop!
