Cycling from Killearn to Rowardennan

Thornhill and Drymen loop cycle

I am well pleased, I have got out three cycles while up in Scotland. Even with all the rain and how busy I have been, seeing friends and family.

My aim was to do at least 100 miles up here. So far I have done 113.39. Can’t see me having the time to get any more cycling done. Since I am seeing a good friend tomorrow, then my Mum and Dad get back from there holiday on Wednesday. Then it’s back to England on Thursday.

I also can’t wait to get my Killearn area cycle map updated, with all the new roads I have covered, since I last updated it.

I will now leave you with the route map, elevation graph, route statistics and photos.

First ever suit, great meal and sailing

Today has been a fantastic to say the least! Got my first ever suit, no not a wetsuit, have lots of them! Went out for a great meal, followed by an evening sailing on Loch Lomond.

Right after that introduction, I will got back to the start of the day. The day started around 9:30am, when I got out of bed to have a shower, feed Ghille, had a bit to eat.

Then it was off to meet up with my oldish brother Douglas and his wife-to-be Lisa. Once I met up with them. We all got the train from Dalmuir to Glasgow Queen Station. We then walked down to Slaters, to get ourselves suits ready for there wedding in September. Believe it or not, I have never owned a suit in my whole life, up till now that is! Normally I really hate clothes shopping, it’s like my idea of hell. But I really liked Slaters. So if I ever need a suit again, I will be for sure using them.

Then after all that hard work of getting suits. We then went to O’Neill’s in the Merchant Square area of Glasgow. Where we had a very nice meal indeed. Never been to that pub before, I would sure go around. Great food, maybe the service has a bit slow. But the food more than make up for that.

After the meal we then got the train back to there flat, but this time from High Street Railway Station. We both then doubled checked the suits filled OK. Which I am pleased to say they did. I will try to get photos of myself wearing it on-line at some point.

Then Douglas and myself set off to Loch Lomond for a evening of sailing on this boat. Which great fun, only the second time, I been out on this boat. Even better this time, since we had great weather. The last time, I was wet. This time the sun was out, just about the whole time.

So it was a great day! But still I was glad when it was over and I was chilling out in front of the TV.

I will now leave you, with some photos from sailing on Loch Lomond.

Vlog: Walking up Earl’s Seat

Neil and myself walking from Killearn up to Earl’s Seat, the highest of the Campsie Fells which are a range of hills in central Scotland. During the walk, you get to see great views of Glasgow, Dumgoyne, Loch Lomond and where the lowlands turn into the highlands.

Duke’s Pass and Loch Katrine loop cycle

So happy I have now done this cycle, it’s been on my hit list for a while. The map may make it look boring, but believe me. It’s anything but. I was hoping to get lots and lots of photos during this cycle. But the rain put a stop to that. It was raining just about all the time. I did get lots of filming done. So I will uploading a vlog to go with this cycle in the next day or so.

I will now leave you with the route map, elevation graph and route statistics. Vlog to follow…

Q1 2012 cycling statistics

I have been posting monthly cycling statistics here for a while. Now I am going to also start posting quarterly statistics.

Here is the data from the first quarter (January to March) of 2012:-

Longest cycle each month:-

Data from: Garmin Connect.

If you have any ideas for other data you would like to see here, then let me know!

Went over monthly bandwidth allocation

My website went over it’s monthly bandwidth allocation for the first time! Which is BAD news. My monthly bandwidth allocation is 20 GB. In April the website used 25.83 GB. So I ended up paying an extra £5 this month, so cover the cost of the extra bandwidth. Which is a lot, since I only pay £3.95 a month to host this website. Most of that extra bandwidth has come from a SPAM website. Hoping I have now blocked traffic coming from that host. I don’t have the money to pay an extra £5 a month, if it goes over like it did last month.

Below is a graph showing the total bandwidth used in April 2012.

So in some said news, to try to save some bandwidth. I have had to make lots of the photos smaller again. I had been uploaded the new photos at 1,920 x 1,080. I have just re-sized them all back to the normal 1,000 x 750.

If that, does not do the job. May have to remove the wallpaper, since that does use a far bit of bandwidth.

I will keep you all updated on this…
