Scotland Tour : September 2014

Neil and myself set off on a mini tour of the Scottish Highlands today. At first we were only going to drive from Killearn up to Glen Coe. A one way trip of around 80 miles. But by what point it was only around 11 miles to Fort William! So we ended up doing that also! Ended up doing, just over 200 miles by the time we got back to Killearn.

It was a great road trip! Nice lots of the road followed/went very near the West Highland Line, we kept stopping at stations along the time to get photos! Which was great fun, since I number of weeks ago, I did the line by train. Then going by train, you don’t have the time to have a good look at the stations. So was nice getting to walk around some of them.

Also loved the drive, since back in August 2009, I cycled the same route while doing the End to End cycle.

Scotland August Tour 2014 : Day 4

In the morning we walk a nice walk from Plockton to Duncraig. But we all did get a bit wet, then we have done very well so far this holiday with the weather.

So then got a train back to Plockton, from Duncraig railway station, which is a request stop. First time Mark or myself have had to put out our hands to stop a train!

Once back in Plockton, we had something to eat. Before taken the car back to car hire place in Kyle of Lochalsh. Then we got bus from Kyle of Lochalsh to Armadale.

Then we got the ferry from Armadale to Mallaig. Before finding our hotel room for the night.

Scotland August Tour 2014 : Day 1

Here are photo’s from day 1 of our tour of Scotland. We got the 12:09pm East Coast train service from Peterborough to York. Then we got the “Highland Chieftain” East Coast service from York at 1:52pm. Which got us into Inverness at just after 8:00pm.

Got to say I loved the route from Edinburgh Waverley to Inverness. First time in my life, I have used that part of the UK rail network.

Also got to say that Cooper was very good indeed on the train! Yes we took the dog with us!

I will now leave you will some photo’s from day 1 of the Scotland tour!

The Railway: Keeping Britain on Track : 12-Feb-2013

I am really loving how many railway related TV shows the BBC has been showing over the last month or so. This week sees a new series start on BBC2/BBC HD on Tuesday 12th February 2013 at 9:0pm GMT.

The first episode, is called “King’s Cross”. Can’t wait to see it!

Here is the program information taken from DigiGuide.

“Documentary series which goes behind the scenes of the rail network, revealing the inner workings of one of Britain’s biggest and oldest institutions. The 1970s concourse at London’s King’s Cross station is cramped and dark, doing nothing to help the spirits of passengers – something that Alexis Bailey, who works on the passenger information point, knows all too well from her experience of dealing with frustrated travellers. There is hope that a brand new concourse will lift everyone’s spirits. East Coast manager Steve Newland wants the opening to coincide with customer service levels worthy of a five-star hotel, a vision that is frustrated when broken-down trains and fatalities on the line bring everything to a standstill. Laxman Keshwara has worked at the station for 35 years, during which time he has witnessed both an IRA bombing and the King’s Cross fire. He is a much-loved staff member but retirement beckons and is last day at work is a very sad one for everyone at the station.”

Thursday – 14th November 2002

God what a long day, it has been I got up at 7:00am. Then helped Mark put computer’s in his car that he needs for doing a training course. Then he give me a lift to Stamford train station. So that I could get the 7:50am train to Liverpool Lime Street station, to spent a long weekend with my boyfriend David.

The train journey went not too bad, for once. I did not have to change at Birmingham New Street station, which made a nice change. The train was still late getting into Liverpool, but only by about 25 minutes.

When I got there my boyfriend David was waiting, it was great to see him again. I now know that this is going to be fun weekend.

In the evening I had some fun taken photos of David wearing some sexy very gear. He liked wearing my England Away top, don’t think that he really liked wearing my running suit. No idea why, because he looked so hot in it.
