Scotland Tour August 2015 : Day 3

During today’s tour of Scotland we left the “mainland” of Mull and got a ferry over to Iona, which is small island in the Inner Hebrides. It’s about 1 mile wide and 4 miles long.

It’s also got one of the best beaches, I’ve ever seen in the UK! Only downside, the water was very, very COLD!!! Would have needed a winter wetsuit to go swimming! Maybe I am looking for a reason to wear a wetsuit!! 😛

Forth Bridge given World Heritage Site status!!

The Forth Bridge has become the sixth Scottish landmark to be awarded Unesco World Heritage Site status. About time!! Makes me so Proud to be Scottish! Yes, I just said Scottish, when most of the time, I call myself British! 😀

RIP East Coast Trains 2009 – 2015!

RIP East Coast Trains 2009 – 2015. You were the best railway franchise in the UK. It’s all down hill from now on. Since Virgin have taken over running of the ECML. It will be like National Express all over again!

So from today, the trains will start turning Virgin Red. We’re going to lose the great colour of East Coast Trains. See some photos below!

Photos from the Erskine Bridge

Had great fun walking this afternoon walking over the Erskine Bridge. Been on my list of things to do in Scotland for a long time! So glad it’s been ticked off the list.

Scotland December Tour 2014 : Day 2

Here are the first lot of photos from my second day of my mini tour of Scotland. Sorry no photos, at all from the first day. Due to the weather.

I did not travel far at all today. Just went to the local distillery, which is called Glengoyne Distillery. Just down the road from Killearn. Then I went to Balfron to take some photos of the “new” high school. The one I went to, is long gone!

Driving from Glencoe to Green Welly Stop (Tyndrum)

Driving along the A82 from just outside Glencoe to Green Welly Stop (Tyndrum). This is one of my favourite roads in Scotland! It also brings back, great memories of doing the End to End cycle. Since I cycled, the whole of this road!

Spider-Man @ Loch Lomond

When you go to Loch Lomond in the evening, the last thing you think will happen is walking into Spider-Man. So no, it’s not me in this suit! Which id what happened today!

So wish, I owned a suit like that, would never want to take it off!

My favourite bit of the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony

While in Cyprus we got chatting about our favourite bits from the Glasgow 2014, Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.

I love the bit filmed in George Square, when Amy MacDonald sings – Rhythm of my Heart.

Scotland Tour : September 2014

Neil and myself set off on a mini tour of the Scottish Highlands today. At first we were only going to drive from Killearn up to Glen Coe. A one way trip of around 80 miles. But by what point it was only around 11 miles to Fort William! So we ended up doing that also! Ended up doing, just over 200 miles by the time we got back to Killearn.

It was a great road trip! Nice lots of the road followed/went very near the West Highland Line, we kept stopping at stations along the time to get photos! Which was great fun, since I number of weeks ago, I did the line by train. Then going by train, you don’t have the time to have a good look at the stations. So was nice getting to walk around some of them.

Also loved the drive, since back in August 2009, I cycled the same route while doing the End to End cycle.
