Children of 9/11: Our Story (Channel 4/HD | 9:00pm to 11:00pm | Monday 16th August 2021)

Documentary telling the stories of six young people whose fathers were killed in the 9/11 attacks, either before they were born, or before they had a chance to meet, and whose lives have been shaped by an event they didn’t witness. The programme features home movie footage shot over the course of their lives and candid accounts of their mothers of the attacks.

George Clarke’s Remarkable Renovations (Channel 4/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Wednesday 18th August 2021)

Architect George Clarke visits Three Ways Farm near Stockport, which has been in Gordon’s family since the 1950s. His late mother’s dream was for Gordon to turn the 120-year-old cattle shed and milking parlour into a home for himself, so he and partner Lisa have set out to make that a reality, creating their first home together. Will it end up being something his mother would have been proud of?

Ambulance (BBC 1/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Thursday 19th August 2021)

The unit struggles to cope, with 20 per cent of staff off due to Covid-19 and four major hospitals operating at 95 per cent capacity. Advanced paramedic Joe races to a category one call for a patient in cardiac arrest and as he works to manage the team on scene, it becomes clear a difficult decision on whether further treatment to keep the patient alive is appropriate. In control, an emergency call from a child whose mother is not responding leaves the call handler feeling overwhelmed. Later, Alex and Abby offer support to a Covid-positive patient in a care home – the service’s 931st call-out of the shift.

Fishing Scotland’s Lochs and Rivers (Channel 5/HD | 7:00pm to 8:00pm | Friday 20th August 2021)

After two weeks fishing their way across the lochs and rivers of Scotland, the five anglers arrive at Oban on the west coast of Scotland. However, Les Dennis bows out for the day, leaving Rosemary Shrager and Shane Lynch harbour-bound to sample the freshly landed delights alone.

Epic Wales: Valleys, Mountains & Coasts (Channel 4/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Friday 20th August 2021)

A freediver and wildlife photographer studies puffins on the Pembrokeshire coast, using specially designed headgear to get as close as possible to the birds, as well as exploring the kelp forests that lie beneath the surface in St Brides bay. In Snowdonia, an upland sheep and cattle farmer prepares his prize bull for the auction ring, and In the Brecon Beacons, father and son paragliders attempt a launch off Hay Bluff.

Motorhoming with Merton & Webster (Channel 5/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Friday 20th August 2021)

Paul Merton and wife Suki Webster head for Somerset on the next leg of their grand UK tour in their motorhome – now christened Captain Narrow Squeak. Their first destination is Minehead, where they charter a fishing boat and, much to their surprise, land a small haul of fish for their supper – except they don’t have the heart to keep them, so throw them all back.

Ian Hislop: The Trains That Changed The World (Channel 5/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Friday 20th August 2021)

The London Underground – first operating in 1863 – changed the way people get around cities forever, driving travellers deep underground to clear congested streets. Ingenious technology, from electrified tracks to tunnels under the River Thames, has gone on to influence railways worldwide. This edition reveals how the filthy and crowded streets of London were transformed by the rapid expansion of the Underground.

Wales’s three national parks are not just a playground for tourists and adventurers, but are also home to more than 80,000 people. This first episode focuses such individuals as upland sheep and cattle farmer Rhodri Jones, who has lived near Bala on the southern side of Snowdonia National Park for 43 years. With lambing looming, an unexpected April snowfall on the mountain makes caring for his pregnant ewes even more challenging. Meanwhile, in the seaside town of Dale, at the western tip of the Pembrokeshire coast, fisherman Mark Gainfort embarks on his first trip of the season.

Wonderful Wales with Michael Ball (Channel 5/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Friday 23rd July 2021)

The singer and broadcaster takes a trip around West Wales. Starting his journey above the river Tywi at the majestic Dinefwr castle, Michael learns about Lord Rhys one of the forefathers of the arts culture in Wales, before heading for the coast. Later, he joins wildlife expert Lizzie Daly on a boat trip around Ramsey Island in search of the fastest bird in the world.
