Michael also heads to the pub to find out how boozing brewers helped unlock the key to ridding London of the deadliest epidemic since the Great Plague.

Michael Buerk discovers how the Victorians took on the world of exploration and adventure, and brought it home to Britain for everyone to share. His voyage of discovery begins at the Natural History Museum, where Michael comes face to face with a dinosaur that changed the course of history. He travels to the Victorian `living museum” – London Zoo – to find out about the way scientific study of the birds and the beasts led to the first ever public zoo.

Fern Britton, Ian Botham, Linford Christie, Les Dennis and Rosemary Shrager embark on a road trip which sees them travelling from East to West, from the North Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. They take in the picturesque sights, the fascinating history, and land the catch of the day.

Wonderful Wales with Michael Ball (Channel 5/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Friday 23rd July 2021)

The singer and broadcaster takes a trip around West Wales. Starting his journey above the river Tywi at the majestic Dinefwr castle, Michael learns about Lord Rhys one of the forefathers of the arts culture in Wales, before heading for the coast. Later, he joins wildlife expert Lizzie Daly on a boat trip around Ramsey Island in search of the fastest bird in the world.
