26-Feb-2013 : First half century (50 miles) cycle of the year

Well pleased with myself. Just done my first half century (50 miles) cycle of the year. I was not planning to when I set off. But someone twitter give me the idea! I was going to be happy with 40 miles. Pleased I did it, means I have beating the longest cycle I did in February last year. Which was 44.28 miles.

17-Feb-2013 : First Grantham cycle of 2013

Another day, yet another good cycle. I have no idea how I did this. I did 33.76 miles yesterday. Did a different route today and did the same distance (33.76 miles). I don’t think I could do that again, even if I wanted to. During this cycle, it’s also the first time, I have cycled to Grantham this year. The first times of many, I am sure!

16-Feb-2013 : Best average speed of the year so far

This cycle ended up being a lot longer than planned. When I set off my goal was so do around 25 miles, but I ended up doing 33.76. Making it the longest cycle of February 2013 so far. It also ended up being the cycle with the best average speed so far, set at 13.3 mph.

I only took two photos during the cycle. All at the same location, which was next to the A1 between Little Ponton and Great Ponton. So here is my favourite out of the two of them.

12-Feb-2013 : Cottesmore – Rutland Water – Ryhall cycle

I am happy with days cycle. I ended up doing 30.73 miles. So making it the longest cycle of February 2013 so far. I did get covered head to toe in mud during the Rutland Water section. So had to give my bike and myself a good wash when I got back home!

10-Feb-2013 : Very wet cycle! Glad I was wetsuited

Well that turned out to be a very, very wet and cold cycle. I am so glad I was wearing my wetsuit, under my cycling gear. Only bit of me that got cold was my feet, even in my winter cycling boots. Did not help they filled up with freezing cold rain water. So I was really glad when the cycle was over and I got my shoes off!

04-Feb-2013 : 20 mile cycle with 40+ mph wind speed

Oh dear, oh dear. It was yet another very windy cycle. I believe that the wind speed went above 40 mph at times. It was OK when the wind was behind me, or even side on. But was hell when cycling head on into it. So only did 21.91 miles. Still not to bad and takes my monthly total so far up to 64.5 miles.

03-Feb-2013 : Yet another very windy cycle

The weather so far this year has not really been the best for cycling. First it was snow, then the ice that followed. Then for the last number of days, it’s been very, very windy. So only did just over 23 miles today. Looking at the weather the snow is coming back later this week. So I best get all the cycling done, before that happens. Really need to get the miles in this month to catch up on some of the miles I lost, last month.

January 2013 cycling statistics

Here are my cycling statistics for January 2013. I am off to a very, very bad start. I am down 222.6 miles, on what I had done by this time last year!!! But at least I have set a new record for the longest cycle in January.

So far my yearly stands at 178.38 miles. Total miles since April 2003 is now at 27,093.7.

29-Jan-2013 : Longest cycle of January 2013 so far!

That’s more like it. Just beating my longest January cycle ever. Which I set on Sunday 29th January 2012. Which happens to be 1 year ago today. I only just worked that out, when looked at my cycle log.  Also happy now my total for this month is looking much better! Still way, way down on January 2012. But much better than I was doing two days ago!!
