About gsvalentine

I am a 45-year-old guy, who lives in Melton Mowbray, in the East Midlands, England. I was born in Lancashire, England, during September 1979. Most people don’t believe me that I was born in England due to my strong Scottish accent. My star sign is Libra. I am 5’9” tall, 30″ waist, with blonde hair, which is sometimes short, sometimes long. I have light brown eyes. Which most people think are very sexy. I just don’t see it, myself.

I made it from John O’Groats to Land’s End :)

I made it all the way from John O’Groats to Land’s End. I am, so, so proud of myself. It’s even more amazing, since I did well over half of the cycle by myself, since Mike pulled out of the End to End cycle and ended our 3 year relationship at the same time. It just goes to show that I am a lot stronger that I use to be.

You still have to to donate money to the National Autistic Society, via my justgiving page at www.justgiving.com/endtoend09. You can also check out photos from the cycle at www.endtoend-cycle.com.

Oh and also happy birthday to my wee brother Craig.

The main news of the day is that I am single again. Mike’s gone and ended our 3 year relationship. So I am very upset to say the least. I did not even see it coming, I was sure that everything was going well with us, but I guess not. We’re had, bad periods before, but this time, I think it’s over for good. Why I am always the one get gets dumped I have no idea. Crap happens, just need to try to move on with my life. But it’s going to take some time, Since I was more then sure he was the one.

Today Mike and myself had fun at the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium doing a photo shoot for the Peterborough Evening Telegraph for a news article that should be going in tomorrows ET about the End to End cycle that we’re doing. While there we also did some telephone interviews with Lite FM and Peterborough’s Heart FM but we’re not too sure when they will get aired.

Just a quick update on my new bike, I got a email from the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Operative saying that my new bike will be getting delivered on Wednesday 1st July. I can’t wait, till I get it, I will be like a wee kid on Christmas morning.

Thursday – 25th June 2009

I have just gone and ordered myself a new bike from the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Operative. It’s set me back £549.99, so thank god for credit cards. Which means to say it off, I do at least 9 days of teaching First Aid Courses and not the spend the money on anything else! As long, as I have paid at least half of it off before going End to End cycle in August I will be happy. I can’t wait till I get it, all going well I will have it, before the end of next week. The bike I have gone for is the Marin Muirwoods 29ER ’09.

Today I got up at 6:00am. So that I would have time, to get showed, have some breakfast. Before Alex come around to give us both a lift to train station in Grantham to get the 7:25am National Express East Coast service to Edinburgh Waverley. Oh I guess, I should say why we went to Edinburgh, that’s because we were teaching First Aid Course, for Pizza Hut. The train got us into Edinburgh 11:09am, but the course did not start till 2pm. So we dropped the gear off at the Pizza Hut. Then went for a nice walk around Edinburgh. The weather was great, the best weather I have ever been to Edinburgh in. I think, it at least 24C if not hotter.

So to kill the 3 hours we had before the course started, we went looking for the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Operative. I have got many things from them before, but only on-line. It’s the first time that I have been into their shop. I could not believe how big it was. Oh and thanks to Alex I have made up my mind, what new bike I am going to get for doing the End to End cycle. I am going to get a Marin Muirwoods 29ER ’09. It will need to wait, till I have paid off the car road TAX that is on my credit card.

Once done looking at all the great stuff at the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Operative. It was back out into the sun to walk back to the Pizza Hut, to get some food. Then start the course, the course had just 7 people on it. I am glad it did not have any more. The room we were in, did not have any air-con, it was HOT to say the least!!! Everyone said the course was very good. Only bad comments we got was how hot the room was.

Once the course was done, it was back to the Edinburgh Waverley, to get the 7pm National Express East Coast service back to Grantham. I was so glad when I was back home and in bed.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that in August, Mike and myself are cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End, to raise money for the National Autistic Society. And were hoping to get some cycling jerseys made up for the cycle, with the End to End website URL on it and also the National Autistic Society logo. So I emailed the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, the place that I would, if they know of anyone that could get them made up for us. Since the only place we have found wants £150 for two cycling jerseys. I could not believe it, when they said don’t worry about the cost we will pay for it. If you put out logo on it, and say “sponsored by”. So that made my day!!!

In other news. In the evening, I went out a 30 mile cycle. I was on fire, I did the cycle in 1 hour, 53 minutes, 50 seconds, with a average speed of 15.9 mph. It was the first time, that I have used my new PBK Team Long Sleeve Skinsuit 2009, that I got from Probikekit.com for £71.24. It’s so tight, I think it helped me to cycle faster then normal.

The main thing that I did today, was to go out a cycle with the love of my life Mike. We went a cycle from his house in Orton Malborne, to the Redwings Service Station, which is 10 miles down the old A1 from his house. So a 20 mile cycle in total, not the longest cycle in the world, but hey it’s better then nothing at all.
