After my last very big cycle adventure, which was cycling all the way from John O’ Groats to Land’s End, covering a distance of 990.30 miles over 16 days. Which was way, way back in 2009. Really think I’m long overdue another adventure.
Right now, my plain is to get a train up to York, then cycle from York to the Tan Hill Inn, which is the highest pub in Great Britain at 1732ft above sea level. A distance of around 70 miles, with an Elevation Gain of 4,509ft.
Then stay the night at the Tan Hill Inn! Then the following morning cycle to Settle, a distance of around 36 miles, with an Elevation Gain of 3,045ft. Where I could get the train back to Grantham.
That makes it sound very, very easy! Which of course, I know it will not be!
So what do you think of this idea? Please do let me know!

Happy days! Just back in from my second 40+ mile cycle of 2020! Well in fact, my longest cycle of the year, I did 43.68 miles. Which I’am more than pleased with! Next goal is to do 50 miles, so I can say I’ve done my first half century ride of the year.
Only bad thing about the cycle, was getting my first puncture of the year! Took me like 30 minutes, just getting the tire off the wheel! It was like, it had been glued on! Which of course, it wasn’t! Just not the tire off, in well over a year! Just so glad it was the front tire.
You can check out today’s route over at www.strava.com/activities/374729166
Here are some photos from the cycle, please, please, do post some comments! 🙂
