Man Overboard. Series 11, episode 1. The Porthcawl crew respond to a 999 call about a local fisherman who’s fallen overboard. As they discover the casualty’s identity, their search becomes increasingly desperate. Out in the English Channel, there are reports of a dangerously overcrowded small boat in the shipping lanes. In North Berwick, a call comes in from a woman whose husband has been blown out to sea on a kayak that has capsized.

FIFA World Cup 2026 – France v England (BBC 1/HD/UHD | 9:30pm to 12:15am | Saturday 18th July 2026)

France v England (Kick-off 10.00pm). Coverage of the third-place play-off, which takes place at Miami Stadium in the USA. This is a match likely to feature several squad players, as the managers give those who have patiently waited their turn the chance to end the tournament on a high. France were expected to reach the final, but were soundly beaten by Spain in the semi-finals, and this represents Didier Deschamps’ final match in charge of Les Bleus. England blew a glorious chance to reach a second World Cup final, but let slip a 1-0 lead against Argentina, after Anthony Gordon’s opener had put them on their way against the defending champions.

Commonwealth Games 2026 (Channel 5/HD | 8:00pm to 10:05pm | Thursday 23rd July 2026)

Live coverage of the official opening of the Games, held at The Hydro in Glasgow. While details of the creative content of the ceremony have not been released, the fast-paced spectacle will feature dance and performance, headline acts, breathtaking visuals and the arrival of all 74 teams, as the audience will be surrounded by heroes of the Games.
