Grand Tours of Scotland’s Lochs (BBC 1 Scotland/HD & BBC iPlayer only | 7:30pm to 8:00pm | Monday 18th September 2017)

Series in which Paul Murton takes a tour of Scotland’s lochs. In this edition, he begins with a chilly swim across Loch Ba high on Rannoch Moor, struggles against the elements while trainspotting and meets some veteran Tunnel Tigers – men who tunnelled deep inside the Grampians, diverting water to hydroelectric schemes.

Paddington Station 24/7 (Channel 5/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Monday 18th September 2017)

Documentary series going behind the scenes at one of the UK’s busiest transport hubs. Temperatures soar in the height of summer, warping iron tracks and delaying trains. Problems are also caused by trespassers on the line, suspected drug users and an electrocuted pigeon.

Robson Green’s Coastal Lives (itv/HD | 8:00pm to 8:30pm | Tuesday 19th September 2017)

Series in which Robson Green explores the extraordinary lives and homes of the people who live on Britain’s coastline – from families who are swapping city homes for a new life by the sea to those who have lived on the coast for generations. In this episode, Robson visits Anglesey to meet a family who live in an ancient fisherman’s cottage in the Menai Straits. On the island, he meets a woman who gave up her stressful life in the city to set up a paddle-boarding company, and a couple who have spent 12 years renovating their dream cliff-top home with its spectacular views of the Irish Sea.

Saving Lives at Sea (BBC 2/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Tuesday 19th September 2017)

Documentary series following the men and women of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). On one of the hottest days of the year, the Dover crew race to a Channel swimmer who has collapsed within eyesight of the French coast. In Mudeford, there are growing fears for a dinghy sailor four miles out in rough seas and refusing to accept help. And the Tenby crew are called to a runaway yacht metres off running aground.

Grand Designs (Channel 4/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Wednesday 20th September 2017)

We are a nation that loves our sheds – but not many of us would want to actually live in one. In Northern Ireland, young architect and shed fanatic Micah Jones has the chance to re-invent a dilapidated old agricultural building in the rolling countryside of County Down. Micah plans an upside down four bedroom shed using new techniques and materials. Micah and family move into a caravan on their windswept site for the duration of the build. But their limited £200k budget runs short and Micah is forced to do more and more of the work himself. And then news of a new baby on the way adds yet more pressure.

Paddington Station 24/7 starts tonight CH5!

No idea how I missed this! But tonight at 9:00pm sees the first episode of the brand new TV documentary series from Channel 5.

The series follows railway workers on the Great Western Mainline against the background of the largest modernisation on the route in generations.

There are also major incidents, huge sporting events, as well as the day-to-day challenges of running one of Britain’s busiest stations.
