Great day at Stirling Castle

I had a great day in Stirling with Neil! We both went to Stirling Castle. Got no idea, when I last went! Have a feeling it was over 10 years ago! We also went to Argyll’s Lodging, again in Stirling.

I am now really starting to get the use out of my Historic Scotland membership! 🙂

Walk : The Whangie

Today Neil and myself did another walk from the “Loch Lomond, the Trossachs & Stirling” book in the Pathfinder series. This time we did one called “The Whangie”

This walk was much short at only 3 miles. But it did give us great views over looking Glasgow and Loch Lomond.

Walk : Dollar Glen and Glen Quey

Today Neil and myself did a great walk called “Dollar Glen and Glen Quey” from the “Loch Lomond, the Trossachs & Stirling” book in the Pathfinder series of great walking guides.

The walk was around 6 and 1/4 miles going by the book! It was a great walk, of course would have been better if Castle Campbell, had been open! But then it was New Years Day. So we did, of course know it would not be open. It just gives us a great idea to go back again, when it is open!

Had a great day out with my older brother!

Today Douglas (my older brother) and myself had a great day driving around parts of the Firth of Clyde. We visited Dumbarton Castle, then drove over the Erskine Bridge to Newark Castle. Then from there down to Largs.

If you’re ever in area, I would recommend both Dumbarton Castle and Newark Castle. Also glad I am making the most out of my Historic Scotland membership.

Scotland Tour August 2015 : Day 3

During today’s tour of Scotland we left the “mainland” of Mull and got a ferry over to Iona, which is small island in the Inner Hebrides. It’s about 1 mile wide and 4 miles long.

It’s also got one of the best beaches, I’ve ever seen in the UK! Only downside, the water was very, very COLD!!! Would have needed a winter wetsuit to go swimming! Maybe I am looking for a reason to wear a wetsuit!! 😛

Forth Bridge given World Heritage Site status!!

The Forth Bridge has become the sixth Scottish landmark to be awarded Unesco World Heritage Site status. About time!! Makes me so Proud to be Scottish! Yes, I just said Scottish, when most of the time, I call myself British! 😀
