BBC Two HD has now launched on all digital TV platforms. The channel now replaces BBC HD. It launched at 6:03am this morning.

There is one single network version of BBC Two HD. Viewers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will be able to watch programmes from BBC Two England on the channel, with their local output continuing on standard definition BBC Two and BBC One Scotland / Wales / Northern Ireland HD.

I still think the BBC has done the wrong thing here. Since now they have no where to show HD shows from BBC Three and BBC Four.

As the BBC makes its exit from the iconic west London site of Television Centre, BBC Four presents a special night of celebration of the building and its 53-year history. To kick start proceedings, the nation’s favourite nutty boys and national treasures Madness take to the stage at the front of BBC Television Centre to perform an hour long concert in front of an assembled audience nine days before TV Centre closes its doors. To help launch this celebration of over 50 years of programme making at TVC Madness treat us to new material and classics alike, such as One Step Beyond, I Never Knew Your Name, Baggy Trousers and Our House.

Series in which British workers are challenged to do their job under some of the toughest conditions in the world. Firefighter Neil Fairhall is leaving his fire station in Hayward’s Heath and heading to the Amazon to fight some of the biggest forest fires in the world. An autistic teenager died after being covered in self-tanning oil and set alight during drunken ‘horseplay’ at his 18th birthday party, a court heard.

Steven Simpson, who suffered from Asperger’s syndrome, a speech impairment and epilepsy, died from horrific burns the next day.

21-Mar-2013 : First 60+ mile cycle of 2013!!

Just done my first 60+ mile cycle of the year!! When I set off, I was going to be happy with just 40 miles. But since I was racing a mate via twitter. I had to keep going.  Also I wanted to cover lots of new roads. Which I did! Look at the blue on the map below! I think I will do, most if not all of that route again at some point. When I do first 100+ cycle of the year. Think I will use, lots of it.

To make it faster to find my cycle routes. I have just been added new tags. So you can now search for cycles between the following distances.

I have only sorted out the cycles routes from January 2013. Since doing any more would take to long.

19-Mar-2013 : Second 50+ mile cycle of the year

Today I did, what is only my second 50+ mile cycle of the year. I did not even mean to. I was hoping just to cycle to Oakham via Stamford and Rutland Water and back. But since it turned out to be a very nice day. I ended up cycling out of Oakham along National Cycle Network Route 63 and covered miles and miles of road I never ever been on before. Most of the time I had not idea where I was at all. It ended up being a great cycle. I will sure head out that way again!

The very last BBC News broadcast from Television Centre

Many of you, may have never even have heard of Television Centre. It’s been the headquarters of BBC Television. Officially opened on 29 June 1960, it is one of the most readily recognisable facilities of its type having appeared as the backdrop for many BBC programmes.

So myself, like many others in the UK have growing up watching TV shows from Television Centre. Including Blue Peter, Children in Need, CBBC from ‘the Broom Cupboard’ and many others.

Below Simon McCoy and Sophie Long at the close of the last BBC News broadcast from Television Centre marking an end to over 45 years of broadcasting from the iconic site.
