About gsvalentine

I am a 45-year-old guy, who lives in Melton Mowbray, in the East Midlands, England. I was born in Lancashire, England, during September 1979. Most people don’t believe me that I was born in England due to my strong Scottish accent. My star sign is Libra. I am 5’9” tall, 30″ waist, with blonde hair, which is sometimes short, sometimes long. I have light brown eyes. Which most people think are very sexy. I just don’t see it, myself.

Longest cycle so far this year (60 miles)…

This is where I should really say I did my 4th weekly shopping in a two using my bike… but no, I was bad boy and used my car. Also did it on Sunday… But now looking at it, it worked out for the best or I would not have done  the 60 mile cycle that I did 🙂

Think it may we one of the longest, if not the longest single day cycle, I have done since the End 2 End cycle, but I would need to check all my cycling data, to be fully sure. But one thing I do know for sure, it’s the most miles I have done in a single but, if I don’t count August 2009, when I did the End 2 End cycle. If the weather plays nice, may end my miles up to 700 before the month is out! So that’s my next goal…

Here are the statistics from the cycle:-

  • Time: 4:30:57 (h:m:s).
  • Avg Speed: 13.3 mph.
  • Max Speed: 30 mph.
  • Calories: 2,719.
  • Elevation Gain: 492 metres.
  • Elevation Loss: 486 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 31 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 161 metres.

Now done over 1,000 miles on the bike

I have now done 1,040.9 miles of cycling so far this year!! Well pleased with myself, to think my aim was 1,000 miles before the 1st April. Still got another 9 days to go, till then. 1,040.9 may not sound much, it’s like cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End, with a good number of miles to play with.

So now on to today’s cycle.  I did the longest cycle of the year so far… I did wait for it… 51.7 miles. Even did my best average speed of the year so far, with 13.8 mph.

Here are the statistics from the cycle:-

  • Time: 3:44:30 (h:m:s).
  • Avg Speed: 13.8 mph.
  • Max Speed: 30 mph.
  • Calories: 2,351.
  • Elevation Gain: 510 metres.
  • Elevation Loss: 509 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 43 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 164 metres.

Firefox 4.0 is here :)

At long last Firefox 4.0 is out. I have been using it, since the very first beta come out. So come on everyone download it!! Right now only 1.3% of my website visitors are using it. Which happens to be the same number that are using IE 9. Can’t be having that!! Need to get Firefox 4.0, up to at least 5%!! Download your copy for free at www.mozilla.com.

Weekly shopping with my bike, yes again :)

That’s me now done my weekly shopping using my bike for a third week in a row :P. So again saved £2.78 going by google. So now saved £8.34, so just need to do it again two times and will have saved around the same money I use on a average weeks shopping. This time I only had 4 kg in each pannier. Even with just 8 kg in total, you still notice it when going up the hill.

Here all the statistics for the cycle:-

  • Time: 1:06:14 (h:m:s).
  • Avg Speed: 13.5 mph.
  • Max Speed: 30.7 mph.
  • Elevation Gain: 122 metres.
  • Elevation Loss: 123 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 27 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 57 metres.

Also well pleased with myself set myself target of doing 1,000 miles on the bike, by the start of April. So far I have done 989.2, meaning I only have another 10.8 miles to go. Oh even better looks like this will be my first 500 mile+ month of the year. Done 414.5 so far.  So only got around 85.5 more to go. Which if the weather stays like this, I will have done by Friday 🙂

989.2

Had a great day cycling with a mate

Today I met up with a friend that I have been chatting to on the net for year and years… But till today, never got around to meeting up. It was great to get to meet you at long last Mark.

While he was here, both both had good look around Stamford. When he first got here, we went to Marks & Spencer to get some food. Then after that we went cycle to Burghley House. Then we cycled to Tallington to watch some train go nice on the ECML. Then after that we did some more cycling around the place. Before cycling back to Stamford, where we stopped at The Tobie Norris, we were hopping to get there, but did not start food service till 6pm. So we just had a nice drink and chat there, before going to Ask, which was lucky doing food. Big thanks to Mark, for picking up the bill. I will make sure I pay the next time. Then after the meal, we cycled around for a bit longer before he got the train back down to London town. So thanks once again to Mark for a fun filled day.

If you want to see the full cycle we did. Here is the map from the cycle :).

You can vote for all three, if you really want :).

If you can think of any other polls you would like to see, then let me know…
