The story of North Uist, a remote island in the Outer Hebrides with a population of 1500 people, who collectively won a £3million windfall and are now faced with deciding how to spend it. The programme follows fisherman Donald, crofter Attar, postal worker Pamela, peat cutter Duncan, and whisky distillery entrepreneurs Kate and Jonny, as they face a very different future.

Following the challenges involved with building the Hinkley Point C in the remote Somerset countryside, the first new nuclear power station in Britain for a generation. This time, the team create an extensive flood defence system to protect the site from a nuclear disaster like the one that befell the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in Japan. Elsewhere, cameras follow specialists as they work to uncover unexploded Second World War bombs that threaten the installation of the 4500-tonne cooling water intake heads.

The Statue Wars: One Summer in Bristol (BBC 2/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Thursday 10th June 2021)

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, protestors marching to support the Black Lives Matter movement tore down the statue of slave trader Edward Colston and threw it in Bristol’s harbour. Caught in the eye of this storm was Bristol’s mayor Marvin Rees, the first directly elected mayor of Black African heritage of a major European city. Born and bred in Bristol and himself a descendant of enslaved people, how would he hold the city together in the face of rising tensions that threaten to explode into violent confrontation?
