Great afternoon in Stamford!

Not that long back in from a great afternoon looking around Stamford with my Mum and Dad! They picked me up at around 2:00pm. Then we went into Stamford, parking outside Homebase, since it’s free parking! Being Scottish, we are not going to pay to park the car, when we don’t have to!!

We then walked all the way up to Burghley House, which is a good 1 hour walk, from where we parked the car! I had some fun getting some photos.

Then we walked back into Stamford to get some food! We ended up going to the London Inn. Heard from a good number of people they do very good food also at good prices. Pleased to they they were not wrong!

After the meal, while walking back to the car. I got these photos of a Virgin hot air balloon over Stamford.

Once back home. It was time to walk the dog. Then watch some TV, while posting this!!

Stamford Olympic Torch Relay photos

At long last I have got around the posting the Stamford Olympic Torch Relay photos, from Tuesday 3rd July 2012. They are not the best photos in the world, but at least it shows I did go and see it :).

Weekly shopping with my bike, yes again :)

That’s me now done my weekly shopping using my bike for a third week in a row :P. So again saved £2.78 going by google. So now saved £8.34, so just need to do it again two times and will have saved around the same money I use on a average weeks shopping. This time I only had 4 kg in each pannier. Even with just 8 kg in total, you still notice it when going up the hill.

Here all the statistics for the cycle:-

  • Time: 1:06:14 (h:m:s).
  • Avg Speed: 13.5 mph.
  • Max Speed: 30.7 mph.
  • Elevation Gain: 122 metres.
  • Elevation Loss: 123 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 27 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 57 metres.

Also well pleased with myself set myself target of doing 1,000 miles on the bike, by the start of April. So far I have done 989.2, meaning I only have another 10.8 miles to go. Oh even better looks like this will be my first 500 mile+ month of the year. Done 414.5 so far.  So only got around 85.5 more to go. Which if the weather stays like this, I will have done by Friday 🙂

989.2

Had a great day cycling with a mate

Today I met up with a friend that I have been chatting to on the net for year and years… But till today, never got around to meeting up. It was great to get to meet you at long last Mark.

While he was here, both both had good look around Stamford. When he first got here, we went to Marks & Spencer to get some food. Then after that we went cycle to Burghley House. Then we cycled to Tallington to watch some train go nice on the ECML. Then after that we did some more cycling around the place. Before cycling back to Stamford, where we stopped at The Tobie Norris, we were hopping to get there, but did not start food service till 6pm. So we just had a nice drink and chat there, before going to Ask, which was lucky doing food. Big thanks to Mark, for picking up the bill. I will make sure I pay the next time. Then after the meal, we cycled around for a bit longer before he got the train back down to London town. So thanks once again to Mark for a fun filled day.

If you want to see the full cycle we did. Here is the map from the cycle :).

Just done my weekly shopping with my bike again :)

Well pleased with myself, just down my weekly shopping on my bike, for the second week in a row :). So saved around £2.78 going by google. So in just two weeks I have saved £5.56. It may not sound much, but it will soon add up very fast indeed. This time I also worked out how much weight I had in each pannier on the way back. In the right one I had 7 kg and in the left 5 kg. So 12 kg in total, which you do really notice when going up hills.

Here all the statistics for the cycle:-

  • Time: 1:07:11 (h:m:s).
  • Avg Speed: 13.3 mph.
  • Max Speed: 31 mph.
  • Elevation Gain: 122 metres.
  • Elevation Loss: 123 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 27 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 57 metres.

Did my weekly shopping using me bike :)

I did my weekly shopping using just my bike today. Which may not sound very good at all, but when you take into account, it’s a 14.88 mile round trip. With a good number of hills in between my village and Stamford. Getting there is nice and easy since I had no extra weight on my bike to worry about. On the way back I did notice it just a wee bit. Bt after doing the end2end cycle the weight was nothing at all. I had at least 3 times that when doing that cycle. I used my Arkel XM45 Extreme Mountain Touring Panniers that I got for doing the end2nd cycle. Going by google I saved around £2.78, which is not bad at all. So well pleased with that. It would will soon add up.

Here all the statistics for the cycle:-

  • Time: 1:06:18 (h:m:s).
  • Distance: 14.88 miles.
  • Avg Speed: 13.5 mph.
  • Max Speed: 28.4 mph.
  • Elevation Gain: 122 metres.
  • Elevation Loss: 123 metres.
  • Min Elevation: 27 metres.
  • Max Elevation: 57 metres.

Renewed my photo driving licence

I had a busy, busy day and still had the time to fit in not one but two cycles 🙂 The first cycle was only a short 3.98 mile around trip to the local shop  in next village to get some food and sugar. The the second cycle was a longer cycle of 14.92 miles. When I cycled to Stamford to pay money into the bank, then it was off to Post Office, to renew my photo driving licence., which cost £24.50, which also included them taken the photo and sending it straight to the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency).

Once back home, I had my lunch then watch Neighbours on Channel 5. Yes I still love watching that soap, I think I will be watching it, till the die or they stop making it.

Then in evening I was working at the Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, which was a fun evening. Then it off off back home, to type this up, then watch Waterloo Road.

Wednesday – 16th July 2003

Today I went two cycles the first one was to Stamford and back again. The second one was to Castle Bytham and back again. I did two cycles to get my bike computer to hit the 1000 mile mark. I so happy now. Now by the end of September I am going to aim to have it, up to at least 1,300 miles which should be easy to do.
