To, then around Rutland Water (longer loop)

This is now the second time so far this year, I have cycled to then around Rutland Water. Last time I did the shorter loop. This time I did the longer loop, which takes in the Hambleton section.

During the cycle I was stopped to record, yet another vlog. Which will be on-line later this evening. I am sure you, will all love it. Since I am wearing my white Garmin kit :).

Cycled to Rutland Water

Today I went a very nice cycle to Rutland Water and back. After looking at my cycling statistics for last year. Turns out I have not cycled there since April. So this year I need to change that and go more often again.

This year is off to great start, I have now done the second most miles I ever ever done in January. Total so far stands at 83.18 miles. To bet last years total I have to do a total of 355.6. Meaning I still have to do another 272.42 miles to bet it. So let’s just hope this good weather lasts till the end of the month.

I will leave you with cycling statistics from the Rutland Water cycle.

  • Distance: 22.05 miles.
  • Time: 1:42:13 (h:m:s).
  • Avg Speed: 13 mph.
  • Max Speed: 27 mph.
  • Elevation Gain: 195 meters.

Rutland Water cycle

I can’t get over just how good the weather has been for the last week.  Been warm and sunny just about every day. Which is good news for me, since I am way behind on the number of miles I want to do on my bike this month. Since I was in Scotland for 1 week, only got to use my bike once that I got a flat tyre and did not have any tools in Scotland to fix it :(. By the end of the month I want to do at least 450 miles, right now I have only done 186.7, which also includes the cycle I did today. So need to do at least another 265 miles before the month is out 2 be happy with myself.

Anyways on with today’s nice cycle. I made up my mind, since it’s a great day to cycle to Ruland Water, which is not that far at all from my place, so only a short cycle. Only did 24.5 miles, but I do really like cycling to Rutland Water, it was so busy. Don’t think I have ever seen it so busy on a week day. Then I think that’s got a lot 2 do with lots of schools being off. But I got a ice-cream while there, which is one of the reasons I went :).

So other than the great cycle, not much at all 2 tell you.  Other than at long last Channel 4 HD has been added to Freesat, it can be found on channel 126. Meaning that Freesat now got 4 HD channels and all for free.  Now got BBC1 HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD and of course Channel 4 HD. Yes I do really like my HD stuff.

Rutland Water and birthday dinner with a mate

It’s been another fun fill day.  Got around of bed around 11:00am, showed then sorted out going a cycle around Rutland Water with my mate Rich. It also happens to be his birthday, so happy birthday Rich. I set off my by house to Rutland at around 12:10pm and get to Rutland Water around 1pm, where Rich was waiting for me. He always drivers there since he lives in Peterborough, I cycle there to get my cycling miles up, it also saves me money on fuel. It was great cycle, we both got covered head-to-toe in mud. So did this dog, who also come with me. She did very well to do the whole 15+ miles with us.

The cycle took me 3:30.37 (h:m:s) which is not the best time in the world, could not go very fast doing the Rutland Water section, due to having the dog with us.  The distance was 38.11 miles, making it the longest cycle of the year. Just beating the one, I did on Valentine’s Day.

Once I got back home, I had a quick bite to eat. And another wash. Then I set off in to Peterborough to meet up with Rich and some of his mates for his birthday meal. We went to East, which is a Oriental restaurant. The food and service were both great. I so would go there again. Everyone had a great time. It was also great to get to see my wife 🙂

Oh and one more thing before I go, my motorcycle helmet turned up, I will get photos of me wearing it this weekend at some point 🙂

Just set another personal best…

Yesterday I just set another best on the bike, just done the most miles I have ever done in any February, well since 2003. Then I started to keep a full record of how many miles I am doing.  So far I have done 127.9 miles, beating my record that I set in 2009. I also have done the longest cycle of the end so far… I did 38.03 miles, in other words more miles in one day, than I did in the whole of February last year.

The cycle was to Rutland Water, were I meet up with a good mate called Rich, then we both cycled around it. Then after I cycled back home. Calling in a nice pub on the way back with Rich, who drove there.

So I am also well on the way to doing 1,00 miles, which I have to do by mid-April. Done 483.5, so leaving 516.5 more to go…

483.5

Thursday – 6th May 2010

I got out of bed around 10:15am, washed, had breakfast and all the normal morning stuff. Then Chris, Nick, Mark and myself went to the local polling station to vote. Not going to say who we voted for, other than two of us voted for one party and two of us for another party. I will say one thing none of us voted for the party in power right now.

Once back from voting. I give my room and the rest of the house a quick clean. Ready for one of my friends coming out for going a cycle. It’s the first time he had been over, did did not want him seeing the place look in a bit of a mess.

Nick (not the same Nick I went voting with) turned up at around 12:45pm. A bit later than he said he would come, then his time keeping has never been very good.

We set off on our bikes at 1:05pm, I only know that, since I got that time off my GPS. Before I get into the cycle, I should really say why we’re doing the cycle in the first place. The cycle is the first of many, making sure that Nick is ready for doing the End to End cycle, August next year.

So back to the cycle now, we cycled from my place to Rutland Water, then around it. The cycle was 34.28 miles. It took us 3:04:26 (h:m:s), which is longer than it would have taken me by myself. But it was very good going for Nick, since it’s the first time he’s been out on his bike, in about 7 months, if not longer. Also think it’s the longest cycle he’s ever done. So well done Nick.

Once back from the cycle, Nick went back home. Then I sorted out my dinner and eat it while watching some TV. Still loving my 32″ TV, things look so much better, than on my old 14″ TV in my bed room :).

Then I had a shower and set off into town to meet up with Tyler, Mike and Nick. It was Tyler’s 18th birthday drinks. He turned 18th two weeks, ago but still looks around 12. Some people have all the luck!

Then I had a shower and set off into town to meet up with Tyler, Mike and Nick. It was Tyler’s 18th birthday drinks. He turned 18th two weeks, ago but still looks around 12. Some people have all the luck! As normal I was the first to get there. Nick turned up at around 8:30pm, so only about 30 minutes late, which is good for Nick. Tyler and Mike, turned up at well after 9:00pm. It was fun evening out.

I got home at around 12:00am, after giving Nick a lift back home. Then I watched some of the election results on the BBC HD channel with Mark, till around 2:30am, before going to bed.

Monday – 26th April 2010
