The story of Queen Elizabeth II in her own words, featuring never-before-seen home movie footage from her childhood up to her 1953 Coronation at the age of 27. It features a clip marking the first extended visit of Prince Philip to Balmoral in 1946, while the couple’s engagement was still not public and depicts Princess Elizabeth as a young mother with Prince Charles and Princess Anne spending time with their grandparents, the King and Queen.

Part three of six. When a woman confesses to murdering her husband, the team must determine if all is as it seems. Meanwhile, Simone is shocked to be reunited with a detective from her childhood and struggles to untangle her past.

DIY SOS (BBC 1/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Tuesday 31st May 2022)

Nick Knowles and the team venture to Northumberland to finish a build they started just before the pandemic, helping a couple whose 18-year-old daughter has complex medical and mental health issues. Nick and designer Gabrielle Blackman put out the call to local trades and volunteers, who turn up en masse and completely redesign the house, add an extension and create a home that works for everyone.

Part four of six. A secret from his father propels Jack to Belfast on an urgent mission, while Simone and Nikki investigate a burned body, which seems to hold puzzles of its own. As familial secrets come to the surface, Jack faces tragedy head-on.

Platinum Beacons: Lighting up the Jubilee (BBC 1/HD | 8:00pm to 10:00pm | Thursday 2nd June 2022)

Around the country communities come together to light more than 1,500 beacons to celebrate the Queen’s 70-year reign, with a principal beacon lit at Buckingham Palace. Kirsty Young introduces coverage, with Jermaine Jenas at Buckingham Palace, Gethin Jones in Wales, Carol Kirkwood in Scotland, and Holly Hamilton in Northern Ireland helping cover this historic celebration. Plus, a reflection on the celebrations that took place earlier in the day, including an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at EastEnders and the pomp and ceremony of Trooping the Colour with its extended flypast.

Secrets of the London Underground (Yesterday | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Thursday 2nd June 2022)

Tim Dunn and Siddy Holloway explore the disused parts of London Bridge, while Siddy visits Ongar in Essex and nearby Blake Hall.

The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys (Channel 5/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Friday 3rd June 2022)

A trip through the Peak District at full steam, pulled by the Royal Scot, one of the finest locomotives ever built. On the way from Crewe to York, the train travels over Chat Moss on a line built by Robert Stephenson, which once served the famous Rocket. Bill Nighy narrates.

World’s Most Amazing Tractors (Channel 5/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Friday 3rd June 2022)

A look at the tractors designed for snow, and for steam and those designed to save lives. In Burnham-on-Sea, cameras focus on the RNLI’s Talus M8, which has been designed so it can head into the sea – even when the waves are lashing hard – and launch its lifeboats. Meanwhile, in Minnesota, viewers meet Kory, who has brought back to life a legend from the steam age, the Case 150.

Pride (BBC 2/HD | 10:25pm to 12:20am | Friday 3rd June 2022) ** FILM OF THE WEEK **

Gay rights activists gather in London for a pride march in 1984, and decide they have a common cause with the miners’ strike. When their fundraising activities are rejected by the miners’ union, they travel to a Welsh pit village to show their support in person. Fact-based drama, starring Ben Schnetzer, Bill Nighy, Andrew Scott and Imelda Staunton.
