Happy 140th birthday to Glasgow Central station

Happy 140th birthday to Glasgow Central railway station. Which was opened by the Caledonian Railway on 1 August 1879.

It had under 33 million passengers in 2017–18, making Glasgow Central the twelfth-busiest railway station in Britain and the busiest in Scotland!

Glasgow Central railway station, needs more LNER services!

Glasgow Central railway station is the busiest in Scotland. But it happens to be, the one I use the least! Mainly due to fast, you can’t get many direct train to it from Peterborough any more. Like you could under the GNER days! Which is one, of the main reasons, I started mainly driving to/from Scotland and stopped using the train!

LNER, is doing a way better job than both National Express East Coast and Virgin Trains East Coast, ever did! But, I still would rate GNER has the best railway franchise the UK ever had!

Reserved seat tickets + I do miss GNER

I can’t be the only one, that takes the reserved seat, tickets with me when I get off the train! Of course, I only do it, if no one else has same seat reserved has me!

I do really miss the GNER days, when you could get more than one train a day direct from Peterborough to Glasgow. Also they had by far the best service of any of the train operating companies. None of the currect ones come even close to them!

GNER, the East Coast Trains of it’s time!

Now we have lost, the East Coast Trains railway franchises to Virgin East Coast trains. It got me looking back, at some of the GNER photos, I have taken. GNER still has to be favourite livery of all time!
