BBC launching five new HD channels

BBC logoHere is some great news, if like myself you love free HD channels. From 2014, BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies and BBC News will all be distributed in HD on Freesat, Freeview and YouView. It will also be made available to other platform operators, including cable companies.

Meaning by the time you add BBC1 and BBC 2 HD. The BBC will have a total of 7 HD channels! Leaving only BBC Parliament in SD.

Out of all these new HD channels, I am looking forward to BBC News HD the most. Since other than BBC1 and BBC2 HD, it’s the BBC channel, I watch the most.

“I Woke Up Gay” on BBC Three and BBC HD

Tonight on BBC Three in the UK, there is a documentary on called “I Woke Up Gay”.

It’s about Chris Birch was a typical, burly, rugby playing lad with a girlfriend and a job in a bank, but after a stroke everything changed. Today Chris looks different, sounds different and has a completely different life – he is a gay, image conscious hairdresser interested in fashion and interior decor. Chris has lost touch with some former friends and family and cannot recall many of the details of his life before the stroke. This film follows Chris as he gets to grips with his new life and his new personality, tries to discover who he used to be and attempts to build bridges with some of the people he has lost touch with.

Should be a good watch. It’s on BBC Three tonight at 9pm. It’s also on BBC HD later at 12:30am. So make you set your PVRs to record it, if you can’t watch it live. It will of course, also be on the BBC iPlayer.

The World’s Worst Place to Be Gay?

Just been watching “The World’s Worst Place to Be Gay?” on BBC Three.  Where Scott Mills travels to Uganda where the death penalty could soon be introduced for being gay. The gay Radio 1 DJ finds out what it’s like to live in a society which persecutes people like him and meets those who are leading the hate campaign.

Makes me remember just how lucky I am to openly gay man living in the UK. You can watch the full program if you live in the UK, using the link below.
