David Attenborough introduces the colourful underwater world of Britain and Ireland’s oceans, including thousands of grey seals congregating on the Norfolk shoreline to give birth. Rich beds of sea grass act as important carbon storage areas, as well as providing home for seahorses, while on the shallow seabed, the spider crab undergoes a mass migration of epic scale.

The teams set off for checkpoint four – the remote outpost of Churchill that is only accessible by a twice-weekly train and where polar bears can outnumber people. One team make their first major mistake of the race trying to get to Calgary – they’ll need to make a race-changing decision to get to the train in time. Another pair encounter a family of missionaries who make them question their reasons for running the race. And one contestant gets more than they bargained for when a bear blocks their path to the train, putting their race in jeopardy.
