The lively comedian hosts an evening of entertainment, recorded in front of an audience at the London Palladium. Jonathan Ross hands over his phone for the starriest game of Send to All, Chris and Rosie Ramsey are rudely awakened for a Midnight Gameshow, and Nile Rodgers and Chic surprise some karaoke-singing members of the audience with special renditions of his classic hits, before they raise the roof with a spectacular performance.

A pregnant mother with a chronic heart condition falls unwell. Nancy grows suspicious of a young father’s erratic behaviour, and calls on Dr Turner who refers Spencer for an urgent psychiatry review. Matthew prepares for a visit from his father, and Timothy takes up paid employment with the council as a bathing assistant and finds himself working alongside an unexpected member of the team. Meanwhile, The Board of Health delivers some unwelcome news to Sister Julienne and elsewhere Shelagh is feeling out of sorts.

As Nikki and the team start to create a picture of what happened, they learn nothing is as it seems. Dealing with a family of serving police officers, they have to tread carefully, as their relationships prove to be another obstacle for the team to overcome.

The year nines are suspicious about Neil’s personal life while he’s busy bonding with refugee Norullah. The truth comes out after an inquest into the accident.
