Comedy Classic: The Vicar of Dibley (Channel 5/HD | 8:35pm to 10:05pm | Saturday 24th December 2022)

Documentary celebrating Richard Curtis’s much-loved sitcom, featuring clips along with insight and analysis from cast, crew and celebrity fans. The programme examines how the fictional village of Dibley was never the same once Dawn French’s inimitable comedy creation Geraldine Granger arrived as the new vicar, and there is a look at the Comic Relief specials.

Call the Midwife (BBC 1/HD | 7:55pm to 9:25pm | Sunday 25th December 2022)

As Christmas 1967 comes round, Poplar is returning to normal after the train crash and Matthew is delighted to see the return of Trixie from Portofino. The midwives move the clinic into new premises, where they treat old patient Rhoda, who is understandably nervous after her last baby was born with limbs affected by Thalidomide, and a heavily pregnant single mother recently released from prison. Meanwhile, Fred comes up with the idea of a festive talent show to raise money for those still affected by the crash.

Christmas in Saint Marie is interrupted by the murder of a true crime podcaster on the hunt for a missing child, an investigation that turns out to be linked to an old case of the Commissioner’s. Things take a spooky turn when Marlon is forced to spend the night in a haunted house. Away from work, Darlene takes a hard look at her life choices and after a chance encounter in an airport car park, could love finally be in the air for Neville Parker? Ralf Little, Ginny Holder and Don Warrington star in this feature-length festive special.

Detectorists (BBC 2/HD | 9:00pm to 10:15pm | Monday 26th December 2022)

The Danebury Metal Detecting Club is in trouble after losing out on a big finder’s fee, and with developers sniffing round, the members are going to need a miracle to help save their beloved scout hall. So, when Lance manages to secure permission to search 10 acres of prime, undetected land, it looks like things could be on the up. However, when a mysterious relic is unearthed, Lance breaks protocol, threatening his friendship with Andy and the future of the DMDC. Feature-length special, starring Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones.

Walking for Change: The 3 Dads (BBC News/HD | 6:45pm to 7:00pm | Wednesday 28th December 2022)

Three dads, united by the loss of their daughters to suicide, set out to save young lives. Mike, Andy and Tim had never met before the death of their daughters. Now they have walked almost a thousand miles together, and raised more than £1 million for charity.

My Old School (BBC 2/HD | 9:00pm to 10:45pm | Friday 30th December 2022)

The story of 17-year-old Brandon Lee, who in 1993 enrolled at Bearsden Academy secondary school in a well-to-do suburb of Glasgow. He turned out to be a model pupil, surprising his teachers with a wealth of knowledge beyond his years. He took fellow students under his wing and even starred in the school production of South Pacific. But then his unbelievable secret was revealed. This documentary tells the incredible story of a man who lived his school days twice, with Alan Cumming and Lulu helping to bring the tale to life.
