The Eurovision Song Contest (BBC 1/HD | 8:00pm to 12:00am | Saturday 14th May 2022) ** PICK OF THE WEEK **

Coverage of the 66th staging of the annual song competition, hosted by Italian TV and radio presenter Alessandro Cattelan and singers Laura Pausini and Mika from PalaOlimpico in Turin, following Italy’s victory in last year’s event with Zitti e buoni by Måneskin. The United Kingdom is represented this year by singer and social media personality Sam Ryder, who will be performing Space Man, which he co-wrote with Grammy-winner Amy Wadge and Max Wolfgang during the pandemic. The current favourite to win are Ukraine’s entry Kalush Orchestra with their song Stefania, who have been granted special permission to leave the country to perform gigs in Tel Aviv and Amsterdam ahead of the main event. Graham Norton will once again commentate and bring his distinctive charm to the spectacular event.

The Airport: Back in the Skies (BBC 1/HD | 8:30pm to 9:00pm | Monday 16th May 2022)

In early November, Heathrow’s most lucrative US routes are opening up to double-vaxxed passengers. Two aircraft prepare for a historic dual take-off. Hayley, a senior airfield officer, is back from furlough and resolving gridlock on the taxiway as two planes come face to face. Footfall is growing but lost revenue from the closure of shops and restaurants poses a serious risk to Heathrow’s survival. Jeremy Spake meets an entrepreneur who is setting up a new restaurant in Terminal 2.

DIY SOS (BBC 1/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Tuesday 17th May 2022)

The team are in Corby, Northamptonshire, to complete a build for Jackie and Colin Hutchison and their three children. The eldest, Jordan, has cerebral palsy and epilepsy – but this has not stopped him raising huge sums of money for charity. However, he and his family are currently living with his grandmother after a after a series of building issues left them without the money to complete their own home renovation. As ever, Nick Knowles and the team, plus hundreds of local workers, arrive to change this family’s life in just a few short days.

The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys (Channel 5/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Friday 20th May 2022) ** NEW SERIES **

Return of the travel series narrated by Bill Nighy, beginning with a trip from the Kyle of Lochalsh, a tiny fishing village on the far west coast of Scotland. The jounrney heads east across the Highlands, then turns south through the whisky country of Speyside to Aberdeen, Scotland’s oil capital.

World’s Most Amazing Tractors (Channel 5/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Friday 20th May 2022) ** NEW SERIES **

Getting to grips with the biggest, fastest and most powerful tractors on the planet, including those in Alaska, Florida and the UK. There’s a look in Montana at the biggest tractor ever built, a self-driving tractor with pinpoint precision in Cambridgeshire and a report on the sport of tractor pulling from Florida.
