Chris Harris and the £2m Bugatti Chiron attempt to cross the Arabian peninsula faster than Matt LeBlanc and a roster of money-no-object transport solutions. Back in Britain, Rory Reid constructs a life-size arcade game to test the Renault Twingo GT and its city car rivals, while rap star Tinie Tempah tackles the Top Gear track in the Reasonably Fast Toyota GT86.

Rivers with Jeremy Paxman (Channel 4/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Sunday 26th March 2017)

Devoted fisherman Jeremy Paxman travels along four of the great rivers of Britain, meeting the people who make them what they are, unearthing their history and traditions, and exploring their wildlife. Jeremy travels from the Thames’s elusive source in Gloucestershire to its bleak but epic end in the Kent and Essex marshes. In spite of its fame, there’s a lot to the Thames that people don’t know. It’s always been a working river, where people from Domesday millers to Victorian cockneys and modern engineers have made their living. So Jeremy meets the people who manage the floods, maintain the bridges, control the locks and deal with the sewage, with the odd stop along the way for entertainment.

Inside King’s Cross: The Railway (Channel 5/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Monday 27th March 2017)

Christmas holiday plans are knocked off course when a person is hit by a train near Doncaster, Christmas Eve heralds the start of an ambitious programme of engineering works and train guard Matt shares some stories about his family’s long association with the railways.

Britain’s Busiest Motorway (itv/HD | 7:30pm to 8:00pm | Tuesday 28th March 2017)

Documentary series which goes behind the scenes and on the roads with the characters who work on one of the most famous and busiest motorways in Britain – the M25. After dark, the M25 takes on a very different atmosphere. As the speed of traffic goes up the visibility goes down, making the motorway a more dangerous place. As traffic officers Andy and Keith clock on for the late shift, reports come in of a cupboard on the carriageway. Last year, there were more than 2,000 call outs regarding items in the road, which can pose an obvious risk to drivers. Back in the control room, Emily spots some unusual visitors at Junction 23 – loose horses on the motorway, which are causing chaos. Loose horses are often a problem on the network and Emily is concerned for the safety of one of her night-time maintenance teams. Meanwhile, at junction 10, a bridge joint is being replaced and the engineers are in a race against time to get the job done before the sun rises.

Yorkshire: A Year in the Wild (Channel 5/HD | 9:00pm to 10:00pm | Tuesday 28th March 2017)

High up in Malham Cove, two 40-day-old peregrines must learn how to fly, while south of the North York Moors National Park, a pair of grebes carry their youngsters around on their backs. Facing unseasonably cold weather, times are tough for the roe deer of Malham Tarn.

Tony Robinson: Coast to Coast (Channel 5/HD | 8:00pm to 9:00pm | Friday 31st March 2017)

Hands-on history travelogue. In the Eden Valley, Tony makes a dramatic ascent to limestone paved Asby Scar, the last evidence of a 300 million-year-old tropical sea. He also finds out why border collies make perfect sheepdogs, before reflecting upon the huge drystone cairns at Nine Standards Rigg.

The Last Leg (Channel 4/HD | 10:00pm to 11:10pm | Friday 31st March 2017)

The award-winning satirical comedy continues. Adam Hills, Alex Brooker and Josh Widdicombe examine the biggest, most entertaining news stories via the #isitok twitter handle, where viewers tweet in edgy current affairs questions that other shows might duck. In this week’s show stars of the new West End play The Philanthropist, Lily Cole, Simon Bird and Tom Rosenthal are live in the studio to help the team to dissect the week’s events.
